You will attend the department and you will be seen, on a one to one basis, by either your physiotherapist, or one of our experienced physiotherapy assistants. Our assistants are trained specifically in the methods of rehabilitation that you need. They work closely with the physiotherapists and you will not be at a disadvantage by seeing them. We will always strive to provide the best care for your individual needs.
Why would I need these sessions?
These sessions may be required if there is an aspect of your movement that is particularly problematic, which requires close supervision and guidance. This may be due to severe weakness, severe imbalance of the muscles or where it is more appropriate for you to attend on a one to one basis.
I’d prefer to attend a class
This could be an option for you but only when it is considered safe to do so by your Physiotherapist. If your Physiotherapist has chosen one to one sessions, it is because they believe that this approach is your best chance to improve and gain good long term results.
Will I receive any other treatment?
This very much depends on your diagnosis and your individual clinical need. Treatment options will be discussed at your assessment and you will be offered the most appropriate intervention to achieve long term gains.
I feel I need more support
If you’re in the Middlesbrough area, Middlesbrough Council has a range of programmes to give you varying degrees of support.
For those in the Redcar and Cleveland area, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council also provide a range of programmes to give you varying degrees of support. For more details about programmes click this page everyoneactive.
These schemes are a good stepping stone if you feel that you need a little more ongoing support to help you once you have completed your course of physiotherapy. Please talk to your physiotherapist if you would like to be referred to one of the services and they will recommend to your GP that you are referred to the scheme if it is appropriate.
