What is Health Coaching?
Health coaching helps individuals improve their physical and emotional wellbeing by
providing personalised, client-led support to change behaviours, manage chronic conditions and achieve health goals.
Coaches use techniques like motivational interviewing and goal setting to build confidence, accountability and practical, sustainable lifestyle habits.
Strategies are tailored to the specific needs, circumstances, and preferences of the client.
Coaching increases a client’s ability to self-manage and take an active role in their own care. Research shows it can lead to tangible improvements in their overall quality of life.

What Health Coaching is not:
Health Coaching is not medical treatment or therapy. Health coaches do not
diagnose conditions, prescribe medication or provide clinical interventions. Those
responsibilities belong to licensed healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses,
psychologists or therapists.Health Coaching is not a substitute for professional mental health care. While health
coaching supports wellbeing, it does not replace psychological therapy for complex
mental health needs that require specialist intervention.Health Coaching is not about giving expert advice or telling clients what to do. A
health coach is not a consultant who provides ready-made solutions; instead, they
help you to explore your own goals, strengths and motivations.Health Coaching is not a quick fix or prescriptive programme. Health coaching is not
about delivering rigid plans, strict rules or one-size-fits-all recommendations.Health Coaching is not judgemental or directive. Coaches do not critique, pressure,
or push clients into specific behaviours. The approach centres on empowerment,
autonomy and collaboration.
