Patrick’s journey began with his academic pursuits at the University of Edinburgh, where he obtained his BMedSci (Hons) in Physiology in 2017 and medical degree in 2020, before completing his foundation training in Oxford deanery.
He passed membership exams at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2021 and was subsequently awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) in Trauma and Orthopaedics within the Yorkshire & the Humber Deanery. He is a dedicated surgical trainee with a passion for advancing patient care and orthopaedic research.
With a strong foundation in research, Patrick has contributed significantly to the field of orthopaedics, with several presentations made in national and international meetings such as FAST, BOFAS, BESS and BOA meetings. He has publications in esteemed orthopaedic journals such as BJJ, FAI and Injury.
His research interests are in trauma surgery, patient reported outcomes following orthopaedic interventions and surgical education.
Patrick’s commitment to surgical excellence extends beyond the operating room. He has actively participated in quality improvement initiatives and audits, showcasing his leadership and management skills.
Additionally, Patrick has willingness to learn from diverse international healthcare settings and completed his elective in the world-renowned centre for trauma and orthopaedic surgery at Queen Mary Hospital with the University of Hong Kong.
Throughout his career, Patrick was passionate about surgical education. He obtained graduate scholarship and completed a PgCert in Medical Education from the University of Edinburgh and was awarded Surgical Tutor of the Year by the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences in Oxford in 2021.
Currently, Patrick is pursuing his master’s degree in research at Hull York Medical School.
He collaborates with researchers from the School of Engineering and York Trials Unit on projects exploring novel approaches to remote rehabilitation and the collection of patient outcomes following orthopaedic interventions. Patrick aspires to use this research as a foundation for his doctoral application following his ACF.
