Changes to service from 1 April 2025
From April 2025 Children and Young People’s Speech and Language Therapy Services for South Tees and North Tees and Hartlepool have been commissioned as a single service across the Tees Valley.
What is speech and language therapy?
Speech and language therapists (SALT) provide life-improving treatment, support and care for adults who have acquired difficulties with communication or swallowing.
We work to maximise function, independence and quality of life by providing treatment programmes, advice and education. We work directly with patients and their carers and families as needed.
We have specialist speech and language therapists who help with:
- Voice disorders
- Head and neck cancer
- Stroke rehabilitation
- Brain injury
- Tracheostomy management
- Brain tumour
- Progressive neurological conditions
- Dysfluency
- Dementia
