How to refer?
Please send all referrals to the team at Friarage Hospital. These will then be directed appropriately.
The team see patients in the acute hospital, community hospitals, surgeries, health centres, and nursing homes. Domiciliary visits can be organised if patients are too ill to travel to appointments. Specialist hospital clinics include gastroenterology, diabetes and paediatrics.
Patients can be seen in community clinics for diabetes (type1 and 2), food intolerance, faltering growth, nutrition support and some gastrointestinal conditions (unless seen in acute care). Patients with type 2 diabetes can also be seen as part of a group session.
New referral criteria are currently being developed along with the other South Tees dietetic teams at James Cook and in the Middlesbrough community area. If you wish to discuss referring a patient and you are unsure if they will meet the criteria please contact the department on the number listed above.
