App for families of special care babies

Parents and families of babies throughout the north east and north Cumbria who are born prematurely or poorly enough to need hospital care can now access useful information to help and advise them on their smartphones.

Building on work to create an App that was originally undertaken by the South West Midlands Maternity & Newborn Network, the Northern Neonatal Network have now developed something similar for their own area using the same supplier – Clickymedia Ltd.

A free, downloadable App gives information about each hospital across the Network that is invaluable during a baby’s stay, which can often be prolonged if it follows a very premature birth.

Available on both the iTunes and Android/Google Play platforms, the App includes information about each hospital, it’s facilities and location/directions, visitor information on parking and other  facilities, background details about the ward and its staff and the care provided on each site. It also enables users to give feedback about their baby’s care and help inform future developments.

To download the App for free, go to the iTunes or Google Play stores and search for “NNN”.
