General visiting times at the Friarage are 3pm to 8pm but some specialist areas may have their own visiting times.

Friarage Hospital grounds Northallerton

We do recognise there may be special circumstances that make these times difficult for someone and will always try to be as flexible as possible.

Please note maternity visiting hours have recently changed – partners welcome 10am to 9pm and all other visitors 2pm to 4pm (maximum of two visitors to a bed at any time please).

Visitors are asked to help our staff in the fight against the spread of infection by:

  • washing your hands with soap and water, or using the hand gel provided, when arriving and leaving a ward
  • avoid visiting at mealtimes (usually 5pm – 6pm, but check with the ward) unless you are actively involved in the patient’s care or at the request of a member of nursing staff
  • using the chairs provided in the wards and not sitting on patients’ beds
  • not smoking in our hospitals or in hospital grounds
  • not bringing flowers onto the wards
  • avoiding visiting if you have flu-like symptoms or if you have suffered¬†sickness and diarrhoea in the last 48 hours
  • trying to keep to a maximum of two visitors per bed at any time where at all possible

Carers are welcome

We welcome the carers of our patients in our wards and departments and would like to work in partnership with you. If you are a carer please let the staff know who you are so as they can support you and your loved one during their stay.
