What are neurological sleep disorders?
There are many conditions that cause sleep disturbance or daytime sleepiness.
Some are abnormalities of breathing such as obstructive sleep apnoea. Respiratory physicians will investigate and treat these disorders.
There are also a wide range of neurological conditions which disturb sleep such as:
- narcolepsy
- restless legs syndrome
- circadian rhythm disorders (abnormalities of the body clock)
- parasonmias (sleep walking, sleep talking and dream sleep disorders)
Clinical expertise
We have extensive expertise within a wide range of sleep disorders. Our team work together to decide which investigations and treatment are necessary for each patient.
We have state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities which allow us to investigate patients with either home sleep studies which can be for a single or multiple nights or in-patient polysomnography (sleep study).
