The Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) Model was launched in 2021 by NHS England’s Chief Nursing Officer, with the main aims of improving the health and wellbeing of the nursing workforce and to support nursing retention.
Professional Nurse Advocacy involves the A-EQUIP model (Advocating and Empowering for Quality Improvement) and the delivery of restorative clinical supervision.
They support nursing colleagues through restorative clinical supervision, which can take place on either an individual or group basis.
This to support nurses to reflect on situations in a safe space and to make sense and take forward learning.
PNAs also support nursing colleagues via career conversations or encouraging quality improvement.
