The spinal cord injury rehabilitation ward is a unit that has the capacity to care for 20 inpatients 24 hours a day seven days per week, from injury until discharge.
The team works inter–collaboratively with a variety of specialist professionals including doctors, nurses, health care assistants, physios, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, dieticians, ward clerks and many more to meet the physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of each patient.
The doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants (HCAs) make up the core of the ward team and work in partnership to ensure that high quality, safe and compassionate care is delivered at all times.
The nurses and HCAs deliver specialist care to assist each patient to adapt to their altered lifestyles following injury. The team act as advocates and educate both patients and family members in all activities of daily living including specialist, bladder, bowel, skin, pain and respiratory management.
Our aim is to rehabilitate all patients successfully to optimise their quality of life enabling them to fulfil their dreams and goals.
