Why did you want to be a nurse?
I worked as a therapeutic care support worker (TCSW) for three years. When the opportunity to become a senior arose I wanted to explore a different view of the team, and I love my role!
Day-to-day tasks:
- Assess all patients referred to the therapeutic care team and provide daily reviews of those who may be requiring enhanced observations, documenting each plan in detail.
- Allocate TCSW staff to patients requiring continuous eyesight observations based on clinical risk and need across the hospital, complying with the CG47 guidance.
- Make recommendations to wards and working as part of the MDT to ensure all patients needs are met, considering patient safety.
- Offering guidance and support to staff.
- Attend any security rapid calls where a patient’s behaviour has been escalating and provide support and advice.
- Encourage family/carer participation and involvement in care.
- Provide meaningful activities to aid recovery.
The most fulfilling part of the job?
The most fulfilling part of the job is establishing positive relationships and engaging with patients and staff.
