The types of long-term conditions that we generally work with are Parkinson’s, arthritis, respiratory problems and early stage dementia.
Occupational therapy aims to maintain or improve a client’s quality of life by considering their productivity (self and domestic care) work and leisure needs and achieve this through an agreed rehabilitation programme.
We run education groups for the management of inflammatory arthritis to assist people with self-management and will soon be helping to co-facilitate a self-management group for Parkinson’s clients in Redcar.
A support group for those with arthritis is also held once a month at Redcar Primary Care Hospital.
A hand assessment and splinting service for the upper limb is also provided for a variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Who do we work with?
We predominantly but not exclusively work with older people but see all adults over the age of 18 years apart from those with long term neurological conditions who are under the age of 65 years old.

We are part of the integrated health team covering the localities of Redcar, Saltburn, Marske and East Cleveland at present.
What happens during the appointment?
