Background
This enzyme was first demonstrated in human serum in 1960. It was shown that elevated levels of GGT were to be found in obstructive jaundice, chronic hepatitis, hepatic carcinoma, acute pancreatitis and chronic alcoholism. GGT is found useful as a marker of enzyme induction
